My poor feets

Take a looksee... It was an ok picture so I thought I would share.

Oy Very my aching tootsies! My left arch and my right ankle continue to plague me. I didn't get up at 3am this morning to workout, but I will be going to they gym tonight to cycle instead.

I've been doing some research on the internet and found this info:

Arch Pain / Arch Strain

There are many different factors that can cause arch pain. A structural imbalance or an injury to the foot can often be the direct cause. However, most frequently the cause is a common condition called plantar fasciitis.

The plantar fascia is a broad band of fibrous tissue located along the bottom surface of the foot that runs from the heel to the forefoot. Excessive stretching of the plantar fascia, usually due to over-pronation (flat feet), causes plantar fasciitis.

The inflammation caused by the plantar fascia being stretched away from the heel often leads to pain in the heel and arch areas. The pain is often extreme in the morning when an individual first gets out of bed or after a prolonged period of rest.

There can be many reasons for arch pain within the foot. In regards to high arches, the bone structure is more like a tripod and when you stand on the foot, you are actually standing on the bony prominences of the bottom of the foot.

You may experience some arch pain because the muscles, tendons, and ligaments are very tight, and they are not allowing the foot to adapt to terrain that it may need to adapt to at the time.

By using a footbed, you can help to fill the voids underneath the foot to a flat surface, distributing weight evenly across the bottom of the foot. This will also allow taking some stress and pressure off of some of the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that may be tight; hopefully giving you improved comfort and improved function within the shoe or boot that you may be wearing.

One of the best ways to alleviate arch pain in plantar fasciitis is to support the foot with a good footbed or a corrective orthotic. This will help to reposition the bones in the foot and stabilize them so that the foot can reduce its stress and fatigue and start to heal itself. It is not uncommon to have cortisone injections.
